Turkey’s midterm goal is Africa

Bahçeşehir University Board of Trustees Chairman, Enver Yücel, attended as a speaker the “Developing Markets and Turkey” section led by Turkey Prime Minister consultant, Mehmet Kasapoğlu. Mr Yücel stated there have been many great achievements in entrepreneurship and innovation. Yücel said, “Turkey has become a rising star. Entrepreneurs and Innovators are now having a great support in Turkey. I was invited to Harvard University two days ago where I also stated that I started this work with a two-room education center and have 200 education institutions with more than 150,000 students. I have also opened an institution under the name of Harriet Fulbright College in Washington, D.C. seven years ago.  I also established Bahçeşehir University in 1998. It has now become an institution with 13,000 students next to the Bosphorus in Istanbul. The most important feature of this university is the aim to be an internationally operating institution with having around 180 international partners. I, now, aim to extend the number of these institutions around the world.”

 

Yücel also said, “In my view, the initiator of developments in the world will be the education sector. Education has a great importance to improve international trade and relations. For instance, Turkey’s midterm goal is Africa. I have decided to fund 1 or 2 students from African countries since the network can only be extended with people. The more we develop these relations the more business relations will be improved. In this context, we have been lucky to have such a government that supports us for this purpose. We can see there is a consistent structure and the private sector has been supported and so have we.”
