Itri was commemorated in Berlin, Takbirs echoed in Pergamon Museum

BERLIN – Bahcesehir University (BAU) commemorated the great composer Itri in cooperation with UNESCO, with a concert organized in Berlin on the 300th anniversary of his death. Under the management of TRT Artist Bekir Reha Sağbaş, six vocalists and six instrumentalists gave a concert in the Berlin Pergamon Museum, which was watched by an audience of about 200 people, with the majority being German.

As “Segah Bayram Tekbiri” was on the repertoire, “Allahu Akbar” acclamations were echoed in the Berlin Pergamon Museum.

It was observed that some guests had emotional moments, where domestic and foreign guests and religious men from different beliefs were present as well as the Berlin Consul General of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Pulat, Germany’s Turkish Society President, Kenan Kolat, parliamentarians and academicians.

Bahçeşehir University Board of Trustees Chairman, Enver Yücel, who organized the event, said that their aim was to give a message about conflict and intolerance in the world, with the help of  the great Turkish composer Itri in Berlin – which is one of Europe’s and the world’s most important cities.
Enver Yücel stated that, “The River Flowing Westward is a documentary which was produced with our university’s great effort over a five-year period and which is the world’s largest and most important civilizations documentary. It has made contributions to peace and brotherhood of all mankind. This documentary has been shown on several television channels around the world and is still being shown now. Also, it is currently released on the German television station ART. We – as a university – will continue to work for the brotherhood of mankind and for peace.”
